Misty #3

This is Misty, the newest addition to our household.  A tiny black bundle of energy with sharp (and active) claws and teeth, she is keeping us on our toes.  I’m not sure why Eleanor chose the name Misty (my suggestion of Widdle seems much more appropriate).

As you can see, much of this site has been taken up with news about Adam and his activities.  Now Adam has finally decided to fly the nest and launch his own blog.  From now on he will be reporting his own news on:

www.adamstafford.org

His first posting is about his experience of voting in the General Election and his video diary.

Adam has finally finished editing the film he took at his meeting with Ed Balls and Ed Miliband last February.  He has posted a copy on YouTube.

Adam celebrated his 18th birthday today.  To mark the occasion he had a tour of the city in a stretch limo.

He seems to be getting a liking for champagne.  More photos are on the gallery.

Later we took Adam to see the World première of The Undiscovered, an independent film created and performed by people raising funds for their community in Midlothian.  We were so impressed we ordered the DVD.

The film Adam helped to make on his visit to the BBC last December has now been posted on the BBC’s Your Game web site.  It includes his question for Lee Dixon and a clip from his Media Box Boccia film.

Last week Adam went to London to meet Ed Balls and Ed Miliband as part of Every Disabled Child Matters campaign to make the main political parties take notice of its ‘Manifesto for Change.’  Adam asked the Eds about cuts in local area spending and discrimination against disabled people in education.  See here for EDCM’s report of the meeting.

Just days after moving in to our new home in Edinburgh we got snow (and the failure of our heating boiler).

Temperatures have been -2 degrees and below, but we are gradually acclimatising to the Lothian winter weather.

Last week Adam and Penny travelled down to London so that Adam could participate in the making of a special programme: Your Game vs Match of the Day.  This was his reward for coming first in Media Box film competition with Boccia – Join In.

Adam and other young film makers helped put the programme together and sat in while an edition of Match of the Day was prepared adn broadcast.  Not only did he get to meet his friend Gary Lineker again, he also interviewed footballer Lee Dixon.

The programme will be available on the BBC web site early in January 2010.

Adam has had his report on being involved in the manifesto produced by Every Disabled Child Matters published in Children & Young People Now.

Adam’s new video – ‘Boccia’ – is finished and has been posted on YouTube:

The film was made with the help of York-based KhaoZ Media.  Click here for Mike Leigh Cooper’s report.
